First Camping Trip

We took Amelia on her first campout this weekend. We camped at Balsam camp ground up Hobble Creek Canyon. It was our ward campout and Brayden decided he wanted a little break before taking the DAT today (Monday). We brought everything but the kitchen cabinets on this trip because we didn't know how she would do. Let's just say we were WAY over prepared. Amelia slept like a rock despite the 40 degree weather. We just zipped our sleeping bags together and let her sleep in between us. It pretty pathetic that she slept better that night then she had the past two nights in her own bed! I guess when I need sleep I will let her cuddle between us on our bed :).

Ellie was a hit with all of the little girls in the ward. I hardly saw her they were giving her so much attention. MUCH needed attention for that dog. She has been a little deprived lately now that Amelia tackles her to the ground (and I'm not exaggerating) and she has to hide under our bed. Poor dog. She still loves her baby, I just think she is scared knowing that Amelia is about to pass her up in size. YIKES! I think we will set up some play dates with the Ruiz girls and our dog this summer.

On Friday night we had a chili cook-off where Brayden's chili got the award for "best consistency." All of the chili there was delicious! After that we chatted with friends and Brayden went fishing with Joey (a 15 year old in the ward). We took Joey with us since his family is hanging out in California. I don't think he was complaining considering Brayden is his fishing idol. I will say, I think I FINALLY met someone who likes fishing more than Brayden. Can you believe it?! Crazy, I know.

After getting up in the morning we chatted some more, had breakfast, packed up and headed up to Wardsworth which is our favorite hike. Joey and Brayden had fun fishing while I got my work out carrying Amelia. Holy smokes, she is growing fast and I am starting to feel it a lot more when waking up the next morning after a hike. It didn't help that we forgot the extra backpack and I had all the waters, bottles, etc. etc. in the pack. Needless to say, the work out was well worth the beautiful hike and Amelia's screams of happiness the whole way. I don't know if she likes the fact that we are outdoors and she sees all of the plants/water or if she likes that I have no control over how much she gets to pull my hair.

We got back Saturday afternoon and Brayden finished his last half day of studying for the DAT (dental application test). To give you a little background, they recommend treating your studying for the DAT as a full time job for a few months and taking a DAT prep course the semester before taking it. Brayden was so busy this past semester between scouts, school, work, and taking care of Amelia that he didn't even start studying until the beginning of May. He studied while watching Amelia which isn't an easy task as she is WILD, and went to work 3 days of the week. He was really nervous after not having much time to squeeze things in, but we prayed that he would have help!

SO..... he got a TWENTY THREE! Yes, a 23. A 22-23 is the 98th percentile. I am so proud of him. All of his hard work so far in his undergraduate really paid off. I am so lucky to have such a smart husband. So now we will figure out where he will apply and hope he can get some interviews!

Amelia is 10 months old now and has the energy of a 2 year old. She never. stops. moving. She is SO close to standing on her own, can crawl up the stairs, onto the couch, and onto her toy basket and can say Mom, Dad, bottle, wow, puppy and can sign eat. She loves clapping and dancing. She dances EVERYWHERE. When I turn the music in the car over to her CD I look in the mirror and she is dancing. She also dances while I am changing her diaper which is quite the task, and when the electric can opener turns on, HA! She loves her puppy, french fries, and opening drawers and cupboards. She is pretty wild, but we love her so much!

I am just working and training my replacement who will take over as the Warranty Administrator come December. We thought 7 months of training would be much better than the 2 weeks I got. It is an adjustment for me, but it's going to be awesome that I can go down to part time when Brayden can work more! I can't wait.

Here are some photos of Amelia and our campout.
